Why this coalition exists
Democracy needs leaders who can think beyond the party line.
Americans need political leadership grounded in constitutional values, independent thought, and a clear regard for the public good. The Truth and Democracy Coalition brings people together around that work.
Divisive propaganda and political extremism have pushed neighbors into opposing camps. Conservatives, liberals, and radicals all encounter manipulation. A healthier democracy starts when people learn to recognize it and choose a shared civic purpose.
Founder story
A constitutional lens on a public problem.
Richard Procida founded the coalition to unite Americans, counter disinformation, defend the Constitution, and fight for democracy.
His work brings together the questions of law, communications, and social life. He studied constitutional law at American University, studied social science and communications at the University of Southern California, and completed a minor in the Study of Women and Men in Society.
As propaganda became a growing threat to democratic freedom, Richard began writing and speaking publicly about accountability and the need to defend democratic institutions. He created Democracy Under Fire, which became The Truth and Democracy Podcast. He also produces Bible Study for Progressives.
His writing has appeared through LA Progressive, BuzzFlash, and DemCast. He also co-authored comparative work on law and social attitudes in Global Perspectives on Social Issues.
